BikeMonthPostcard_cropped

ABOUT BIKE MONTH

What began in Toronto as a Bike to Work Day celebration in 1989 has evolved to become one of the largest events of its kind in Canada and is now celebrated across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). Bike Month brings together families, artists, commuters and community groups to promote cycling at hundreds of events all month long.

Bike Month 2015 is supported across the GTHA by Smart Commute – a program of Metrolinx, and locally by The City of Toronto, The City of Mississauga, The City of Hamilton,  The City of Burlington, The Region of Peel, York Region, and Durham Region.

Check out the event calendar to find out what’s happening in your area and don’t forget to sign up to participate on May 25 for Bike to Work Day!

ANNUAL BIKE/GEAR SWAP

ANNUAL BIKE/GEAR SWAP!

Saturday, April 4, 2015 10am – 4pm

Have some old gear that you think someone else could put to good use? Maybe you’ve realized that bike you bought on special really DOESN’T fit. Maybe it’s a gift that just didn’t work (sorry mom and dad). Bring your old bikes and gear down to be put into our swap!

How does it work?

Simply bring your bike down to us anytime until Thursday, April 2. We will check over your bike, assess any necessary repairs, and discuss a selling price with you. You will have to pay for the repairs regardless of if your bike sells. On the day of the swap we will have all the bikes and gear displayed for people to view, and if your bike/gear is purchased you can return for 80% of the value in cash, or 100% in store credit. If your bike does not sell you MUST promptly return to pick it up.

*Bike shop quality bikes and parts only*

Come on down, sell some of your gear and pick up a great riding deal for this coming season!

Family Day – Closed

This coming Monday, February 16, 2015 is Family Day. Since it is Family Day Freewheel Cycle will be closed so that we all can spend time with family (bikes are family, right? Right? Someone?) FDAYJust look at that picture, you could be having the same Family Day fun! No, this photo was not taken on family day, and none of said riders are technically family and it is much more winter out there than this photo but, we want you (yes you, I’m talking directly to you Bob… Sarah? I’m not very good at this mind reading thing…) to get out there and enjoy a day with your family too. We will open again for regular hours on Tuesday, February 17, 2015!

Due to a national weather alert Freewheel Cycle will be closing early on Sunday 02 February 2015. Some reports suggest as much as 15-25cm of snow. Our store will close by 2:00pm
