Freewheel’s Annual Bike Swap

Calling all used bicycles and equipment for Freewheel’s Annual Bike Swap! Bring your bike in for assessment anytime between now and Wednesday, April 17th.

Swap starts at 10:00am sharp on Saturday, April 20th!

Spring is a time for cleansing, renewal and cleaning out the garage. And our annual Bike Swap! Our swap is a great way to make some space in the basement, and put some money in your pocket. If you’re looking for the perfect bike or cycling gear you can find some sweet deals for the season ahead too!

Have some old gear that you think someone else could put to good use? Maybe you’ve realized that the bike you bought on special really DOESN’T fit. Maybe it’s a gift that just didn’t work (sorry Mom & Dad!). Bring your unwanted bikes and gear down to be put into our swap! And browse to see what treasures others have unearthed in their garages.

How does it work?

Simply bring your bike to us anytime until Wednesday, April 17th. We will check over your bike, assess any necessary repairs, and discuss a selling price with you. (In the event that your bicycle does not sell during the swap, please be aware that you are responsible for any pre-sale repair costs that are incurred). On the day of the swap, April 20th, 2019 we will have all the bikes and gear displayed for people to view, and if your bike/gear is purchased you can redeem 75% of the value in cash, or 100% in store credit. If your bike does not sell you MUST promptly return to pick it up.

Bike shop quality bikes and parts only.

Come on down, sell some of your gear and pick up a great riding deal for this coming season!

Bikepacking in Jordan

Friday April 12, 2019 – 7:00PM-9:00PM
@ Freewheel Cycle

Tickets: $5 (available on EventBrite)

Join local bikepackers Paulo LaBerge and Heather Christine as they reflect on their epic journey through beautiful, rugged Jordan.

Beginning their journey not far from the Dead Sea, they rode southward to the ancient city of Aqaba. Along the way they befriended a camel, slept in an ancient Nabataean cave, explored a wonder of the world, pedaled (and coasted!) breathtaking stretches of the acclaimed Jordan Bike Trail, dined with Bedouins in their tent, and made the red sand dunes of the Wadi Rum desert their personal playground for a day.

Paulo and Heather will bring selected gear and talk about preparation, logistics, and expecting the unexpected.

We will be showcasing Trek bikes suitable for bikepacking as well as as a wide selection Blackburn gear. Refreshments and witty banter will be in abundant supply.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Bike for Mike.

Buy your tickets now and don’t miss out on this evening of entertainment and information. And bikes!

Tickets: $5

Marc’s 24 Hours of Indoor Training

Join us at Freewheel Cycle as we host a true madman, Marc Sinclair of 9point8, as he goes for a 24 hour indoor trainer ride to collect donations of non-perishable food items for Hamilton Food Share. But he needs YOUR HELP!

Saturday February 9th 12:00PM – Sunday February 10th 12:00PM
@ Freewheel Cycle

Marc will ride 10 minutes for every non-perishable food item donated. His goal is to collect 144 items. That’s right. By our math, that means he’ll ride around the clock. Marc will have his bike set up in store and begin riding on Saturday at noon. His epic efforts will continue, with the help of your donations, until noon on Sunday.

Marc is putting his efforts to good use by setting up a non-perishable food drive for Hamilton Food Share. A collection bin will be at the shop this week so bring some food items, and cheer Marc on as he embarks on this 24 hour journey!

And no, Marc doesn’t get to eat your donated food during his ride. 😉

How you can get involved:

  • Bring your food donations to the shop this week so Marc can see what he’s in for
  • Jump on your smart trainer and join him online in Zwift (rider: “Dundas Freewheel Cycle”)
  • Come by the shop on Saturday with high-fives, food donations and good vibes for Marc

Please note that regular business hours still apply at Freewheel during Marc’s ride. We will be open on Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 12pm to 5pm.
