2017 Bicycle and Gear Swap!

April 15th @ Freewheel Cycle

Spring is a time for cleansing, renewal and cleaning out the garage. And our annual Bike Swap! Our swap is a great way to make some space in the basement, and put some money in your pocket. If you’re looking for the perfect bike or cycling gear you can find some sweet deals for the season ahead too!

Have some old gear that you think someone else could put to good use? Maybe you’ve realized that the bike you bought on special really DOESN’T fit. Maybe it’s a gift that just didn’t work (sorry Mom & Dad!). Bring your unwanted bikes and gear down to be put into our swap! And browse to see what treasures others have unearthed in their garages.

How does it work?

Simply bring your bike down to us anytime until Wednesday, April 12th. We will check over your bike, assess any necessary repairs, and discuss a selling price with you. (In the event that your bicycle does not sell during the swap, please be aware that you are responsible for any pre-sale repair costs that are incurred). On the day of the swap, April 15th, 2017 we will have all the bikes and gear displayed for people to view, and if your bike/gear is purchased you can redeem 75% of the value in cash, or 100% in store credit. If your bike does not sell you MUST promptly return to pick it up.

Bike shop quality bikes and parts only.

Come on down, sell some of your gear and pick up a great riding deal for this coming season!

Ride More, Wait Less: Suspension Service at Freewheel

Proper maintenance is crucial to the performance and longevity of all suspension components. Freewheel offers a state-of-the-art repair shop that is equipped to service all major suspension brands in-house. This means that we can freshen up your suspension in as little as one day, so you can spend more time riding, and less time waiting for service. Our mechanics are constantly expanding their expertise, and are formally trained and certified from Fox, RockShox, 9point8, and UBI. Components from RockShox, Fox, Marzocchi, DVO, Manitou, MRP, and X-Fusion can all be serviced in-house. In most cases, assessment and repair quotes can be made on the spot when you drop off your bike.

Forks should be serviced at a minimum of once per season, depending on ride time and riding conditions. If you are a year round rider this could mean Fall and Spring service. Maintenance ensures long seal and stanchion life, and more dependable compression and rebound functions. Rear shocks have the same recommended service intervals. They are more vulnerable to air leaks and damage to the smaller compression/rebound parts when service intervals are missed which can add up and mean down downtime for you.

freewheel-workshop-suspension-service

We even offer nitrogen service for Fox rear shocks. This is beneficial for air and coil shocks, as well as specialty Fox shocks such as DRCV and RE:aktiv, found on Trek mountain bikes. Typically you would have to wait 1-4 weeks for your local shop to send the shock to a service centre to be overhauled. Since your shock never leaves our shop, we can guarantee a much faster turnaround regardless to the season; with as quick as 24 hour turnaround.

Dropper seatposts need love too! Seatposts should be serviced once a season to extend seal/stanchion life. Grime build-up on your dropper post can cause trailside failures, leaving you with an uncomfortably low saddle height, or a bobbing saddle leaving you at the back of the pack trying to catch up to your friends.

Our main goal in the service area is to keep you on your bike so we work with you and your schedule to reduce downtime. Come visit us to book an appointment and learn a bit about the service your bike needs to stay in tip top shape and keep you on the trails.
